All systems go

Aren't these oxfords amazing? I love the weaved gold leather and guess what? I got them at Vaule Village! They're in near perfect condition and they're exactly my size 9.5 AA (narrow). Crazy right? But it seems Vaule Village has invested more time into looking at shoes and clothes - noticing when things are probably worth a bit more then $10, because these bad boys were $26. I never thought I would spend $26 on shoes at the Village, but hey, sometimes quality calls.

Have a beautiful day,
Kate

The Breakwater

My mom and I ventured to the breakwater yesterday and these pictures are the result. It turned into a beautiful day, so we were able to get some excellent shots. I just love the wall in the first picture.
The Chelsea boots I'm wearing are Cole Haan and I got them at Ingledew's in Hillside mall. Basically the store was crawling with little old ladies because who else can afford $250 shoes? I guess I can too because I bought them, but I was sick and tired of buying $80 boots that would wear out in 6 months.
So I guess what I'm saying is spend the extra money to get some decent boots, because you'll probably wind up wearing them a lot.

Have a beautiful day,
Kate

Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night

Okay. Okay. I know I've gone a little over board with the Chrismas themed ensembles, but I love a theme. Once for a pajama themed party I managed to find a onesie with skating cats on it at a thrift store in Sidney. Go big or go home. To be honest I thought I posted the last Christmas themed outfit yesterday, but I was browsing on my computer and found this little gem that I haven't used yet. I think out of all my copious Christmas looks this is probably my favourite. What's yours?

PS. 'Twas the night before Christmas is definitely my favourite Christmas book/poem/song for sure.

Have a beautiful Christmas!
Kate

'Twas the night before Christmas

Christmas is tomorrow! I'm really excited to see my extended family; there will be 15 people at Christmas dinner... I can't remember the last time we were all together.
I got this sweater at a Sidney thrift store last year and have been in love with it the whole time.

Merry Christmas Everyone!

RED

Forever 21 had its grand opening in Victoria today. It was epic. My friend Lauren and I got there at 9:40 and the line snaked all around the building. We only had to wait 30-40 min to get in, which was bearable. While waiting in line I saw the most badass old man ever. He was driving a shiny black motorcycle with a side car. A SIDE CAR! He also had a magnificent handlebar mustache. 'Nuff said.
Anyways, once we got into the store it was quite the gong show, but boy was it worth it.

The ensemble I'm wearing in today's post doesn't contain anything from Forever 21, but just wait. Just wait.

Have a beautiful day,
Kate

Festive

Another slightly festive ensemble. What can I say? Christmas is an exciting time of year, but I still haven't finished my Christmas shopping. Please, please wish me luck. This blazer is probably one of my best thrift store finds ever, it fits perfectly and is just the right shade of red.

Candy cane cheesecake

I went out for dinner last night and for dessert I had candy cane cheesecake! It was a delicious minty fresh explosion of awesomeness. I have resurrected my berry crown for this ensemble. The crown is literally just a berry wreath that I bought at Michael's, then plopped on my head. Let's be honest, flower crowns are too mainstream now. For realz.

Have a beautiful day,
Kate

Michigan left

These are the pictures that weren't used for my Eiffel tower photoshop assignment. They're in colour, so I think you can see the details of the outfit better.
It snowed in Victoria last night, but it has already melted - thank goodness, because I can't drive in the snow. I guess I'm not a true Canadian.

Gonna get my bricks out in the sticks

I just watched the season finale of Homeland. It was pretty crazy. I highly recommend watching it if you like suspenseful and mysterious TV shows.
This outfit, however, contains my paint splattered Mango pants I got in Las Vegas in the summer. I dressed them down with my oversized denim shirt and flats because I don't have anywhere super fancy to wear them yet. This is my third look with this shirt and I hope you're not bored with it yet. I just wanted to show how versatile an oversized denim shirt can be.

I love this hat.

I love this hat. I found it at Mark's Work Wearhouse, nestled between plaid work shirts and hiking boots. Honestly, what is there not to like about this hat?
FOREVER 21 IS OPENING IN VICTORIA DEC. 22!!! I think caps lock was quite necessary there, because I will no longer have to take the ferry to Vancouver or venture into the world of online shopping.

Have a beautiful day,
Kate

mohair mohair

So I spent yesterday watching the entire first season of the Newsroom. How productive. But honestly it's a really good show and if you have 10 hours where you have nothing to do I strongly suggest you check it out.
Anyhow, this coat is probably one of my favourite thrift store finds ever. I was browsing at the local Value Village and I happened upon this mohair coat. Mohair is goats hair, in case you were wondering. It was only $10! Ten dollars for a coat at Value Village today is a steal, seeing as their prices have steadily been climbing ever since I started thrifting a few years ago.

Have a beautiful day,
Kate

In the field

So I'm in a field by my house in these pictures. There was a family walking through it and I always feel pretty self conscious when I'm getting my picture taken simply because it seems quite vain. But I have started this blog about myself so I should just accept the fact that in a sense I am vain.
I'm wearing my favourite pants from Mango and my sparkling loafers, both of which I got in Las Vegas this past summer. The shirt I saved from my best friend Lauren's "giving away pile," but it's a petite and I'm 175 cm tall. It gets untucked a lot.
Have a great weekend!

Ahoy matey

So as I was typing "Ahoy matey" into google to double check the spelling as I often do (my spelling is terrible), the definition came up, so I had to click on it. Basically "ahoy" means "hey" and "matey" means "sailor" or really any type of person. Since I dressed up as a pirate for Halloween I think the title is quite fitting.

My friend Nicole had a Halloween party at her house this past Saturday and this was my exciting Jack Sparrow inspired ensemble. The sad truth? I owned probably 95% of this stuff before deciding to be a pirate. If you look at my past lookbook.nu post you'll probably spot some items...

These pictures were taken at a lovely beach in the rain on the Saanich Inlet.
